National Preps Championships (2/25-2/27/2010): 5th of 115; results; MSJ wrestlers finished 5th place in a field of 115 high schools from 10 states and the District of Columbia.  Wyoming Seminary (PA), Blair Academy (NJ), Bishop Lynch (TX), and the Kiski School (PA) placed as the top 4 schools.  DeMatha finished 9th as the next MD school.  MSJ Placers included:

Maryland State MIS Tournament (2/19-2/20/2010): 1st of 28; results; MSJ dominates the final two rounds to win the 2010 MIS State Tournament with 51 team points ahead of second place Georgetown Prep.  All MSJ wrestlers added to the team victory with wins during the two-day tournament. MIAA Championships (2/15/2010): 1st of 15;   (Results); The Gaels win the MIAA Wrestling Championship for the 2nd straight year.  Brady Massaro and Karl Green crowned tournament champions.

USMC Ultimate Challenge (1/23/2010) 3 of 11; MSJ places 3rd in a very impressive field of top Virginia teams including 5 of the top 11 ranked teams in Virginia.  MSJ received wins from ALL team members adding to the team score. Special congratulations to Brady Massaro and Karl Green as USMC Ultimate Challenge Tournament Champions. Dorian Spradlin and Bobby Bowman placed 2nd; Benny Schauffel, Tyler Rill, Austin Bohn, & Tyler Tippet placed 3rd; Jimmy Klose, Kevin Johnson, and Ryan Sherman placed 5th; and Jimmy Sarbanes placed 6th. Frank W. Cox High School from Virginia Beach was the team champion, and Colonial Forge from Stafford edged MSJ by 9 team points for 2nd place. (Results) (MIAA Article)

Mount Mat Madness (1/15-1/16/2010): 4th of 30; MSJ takes 4th place at MMM hosting 30 of the best teams from VA, MD, DE, NJ, & PA including 2 of the top-ranked teams in the country – Wyoming Seminary (PA) placing 1st & St. Marks (DE) placing 2nd.  MSJ tops all MD schools with Southern Garrett County coming in at 7th place, Urbana at 11th place, DeMatha 14th, and McDonough 15th. Congratulations to Bobby Bowman as the 171 lb. MMM Champion.  Also congratulations to Karl Green (3rd), Brady Massaro (4th), Tyler Rill (4th), Tyler Tippett (5th)and Kevin Johnson (6th) as MMM place winners. MIAA Article.

POWERade (12/29-12/30/09): 10th of 44; Congratulations to Karl Green (2nd place), Benny Schaufele (4th place), and Bobby Bowman (5th Place) for placing at the 2009 POWERade Tournament.  MSJ finished 10th place out of 44 of the top teams on the east coast from PA, OH, MD, FL, GA, WV & VA. Beast of the East (12/19-12/20/09): 20 of 100; Bobby Bowman places 3rd, Karl Green places 4th, and Brady Massaro places 6th at Beast of the East for MSJ to place 20th out of 100 teams, only 10 team points from placing in the top 10 teams.  MSJ leads all Maryland teams with DeMatha coming in at 42nd.  Blair Academy (NJ), Central Dauphin (PA), Wyoming Seminary (PA), and St. Marks (DE) led the tournament respectively. Lions Duals (12/11-12/13/09):  1st of 13; MSJ Varsity Wrestlers took first place at the 2009 Lions Duals Tournament beating Liberty in the tournament finals. A special congratualtions to Senior Gino Pollock who was the Stat Champion with 8 pins in 8 matches.  Gino edged out team mate Kevin Johnson who had 7 pins out of 8 wins.  Tyler Rill, Dorian Spradlin, Matt Lucas, and John Morgan were also undefeated during the 2-day tournament.  Lions Duals Results.  MIAASports Article.

War on the Shore (12/4-12/5/09): 3rd of 28; Gaels lead all MD schools at the Ocean City “War on the Shore” Tournament taking 3rd place out of 28 high schools from Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia.  Congratulations to Bobby Bowman – 2009 War on the Shore Tounament Champion at 171 lbs.  Also congratulations to Karl Green, Tyler Tippet, and Matt Mullett in reaching the tournament finals.
